Welcome to my blog. I will tell you about my quilting hobby and my family. How nice of you to take a look here. I would like it very much if you leave a comment. Forgive me the mistakes I will undoubtedly make by translating the Dutch text in English.
Sorry, I have stopped translating the Dutch text.

Last week we have had our annual outing with the Lekprikkers. Some of the members could not join the last meeting and they have missed a report on my blog. Well ladies, here is is short report, followed by a report/pictures of the meeting of the Quiltbengels.

The Lekprikkers are going to make 2 dream blankets for St. Regenboogboom. Each of us will make 2 blocks. We are using the fabrics which are given to to us by a now closed store. An appliqué block for one blanket and a log cabin block with a farm-image in the middle for the other blanket.

We went straight to work on dividing and cutting the materials.

The show and tell:  there was not showed much, but what was to see was very beautiful. Gijske makes a Japanese quilt.

Prachtig!

Alie has a collection of Den Haan and Wagemakers fabrics. She continues to make blocks until there is nothing left.. Beautiful!

At the Quiltbengels there were only three of us. Trea was sewing the binding to this quilt.

Annelies collects FQ for this quilt.... there are a few blocks ready now.

While I am writing this blog post, our daughters are making their final exams. And then we have to wait until June 16 for the results. We think they both did a good job, but you never know. It remains exciting.

Fijn weekend!

One of these days I will make a blog post of the Lekprikkers outing. Then I hope to show some of my own work. I can't find my Dutch / English dictionary, hopefully the translation into English went well! Enjoy the weekend!

OEQC 2011 - Sorry, ik loop achter.... Sorry I am late in publishing my stories.

Best of Show, detail

Last week I visited with my friends Anita, Annelies and Trea the OEQC in Veldhoven. It was not so crowded. We could take a good look at the quilts and most booths were not to crowded, so we could have a chat with the shop owners. But at the end of the day we were still running out of time. When we were on our way home, I thought, ooh, I would have gone back to different booths to buy this and that...

It was a feast to admire all the beautiful quilts up close. There were exhibitions of Baltimore Album Quilts, quilts from Jacqueline de Jonge, and quilts from the mysterybom of Quilterij from Den Bosch.

Last year we admired the beautiful quilts from Hungary. Look what was for sale this year.

I also bought bag handles, wooden buttons and a pair of FQ. I bought the FQ in a new quiltshop 'de Quilthoeve'. This new store opens May 12, but they were already in their booth at the fair. Smart move! The booth looked great, with especially fabrics of French General. We received a nice tin with pins as a gift.

At Lynette Andersons' booth I bought 2 patterns. These were my presents from dearest Hubby for Mothers day.

And my daughters gave me this beautiful book on Mothers day. And now it is about time to do some sewing, enough inspiration!

Trotse moeder! - Proud Mama!

En papa is ook trots hoor!
Woensdagavond hadden onze dochters hun schoolgala.

And daddy is very proud too!
Wednesday evening our girls had their school gala. The other years (2010 and 2009)  I sewed the dresses myself, this year the girls went shopping.

Luckily the weather was still very beautiful. With a few friends/classmates they organized a photo shoot in our backyard.

They partied until the wee hours and slept through the day. Today they started studying again. The exams will begin on Monday.
I wish you all good luck!

Australië - Australia is in my mind

Hello, hi, yes I'm still here. Sorry for my long absence. I had some muscle-problems in my neck and schoulders with the result that my arms and hands began to shiver and shake. Finally I went to a physiotherapist and thankfully I feel much better now.

I have tried to knit and crochet but I could not do that either. I have restricted myself to (careful) gardening, walking, cycling and taking pictures. Luckily the weather was very good and I also enjoyed sitting in the sun. That was good for my muscles too. Meanwhile I went to work as usual. Now I cautiously started again to do some needlework.

But why has this blogpost this title? Well, just before my arms stopped to cooperate, I managed to embroider a few blocks for the Aussie Spirit Flood Relief project  of Hugs and kisses/Helen Stubbings.

My aunt and uncle are back in Holland after they visited their kids and families in Perth, Australia. They brought me a package of 2 Homespun Magazines with a DVD!

Well, even the departure of our youngest daughter to Queensland, Australia, is getting closer and closer. She has already contacted her host family by mail and facebook and she is very enthousiastic. As far as known, she will leave to Brisbane in July and comes back next year in May.
A 17-year-old girl has lots of clothes and of course she wants to take along as much as possible. We bought a large suitcase, but I wonder whether it all fits?

This week our daughters enjoy their vacation. But the final examinations will already start after next week, so they are pretty much with their pretty noses in the books too. Next week is also the school gala. Earlier I made the gala dresses myself, but this year the girls have "just" bought dresses. Photos will follow!

Oh yes, this couple is still there. Dad was not at home and Mom stayed the whole time on the nest, sitting on her eggs (I assume), so I could not make a really interesting photo. Hopefully we will soon get the chance to see young birds in the nest.
Groetjes en tot gauw!

Greetings, see you soon!
